Steven had of course brought with him what was “New Discoveries” at the time of Ellington ’97.

As far as I can hear, he starts with the ending of take 3 of St. Louis Blues from December 20, 1928,  continues with take 1 of Doin’ The Voom Vom Januari 16, 1929 and ends the “first set” with the first take of Three Little Words August 20, 1930.

From there Steven jumps to a broadcast from Trinon Ballroom in South Gate CA in June 1941 with Take The “A” Train, Sepia Panorama, It Is Square But It Rocks, Day Dream, In A Mellow Tone and The Second Portrait of yhe Lion /Raincheck. One hears a lot of Jimmy Blanton particularly in Sepea Panorama and In A Mellow Tone.
