I don’t know from where Steven Bowie gets his energy but now there is a new post on Ellington Reflections. It is about Wellman Braud – Ellington’s bass player from June 1927 to March 1935.

After his introduction, Steven plays 10 recordings with Braud keeping the rhythm in his slapping style. They are  Washington Wabble (1927), Black and Tan Fantasy (1927), Blues I Love to Hear  (1927), Black Beauty (1928), Jubilee Stomp (1928), Freeze and Melt (1928), Old Man Blues (1930) Rose Room (1932) Harlem Speaks (1932) and Tough Truckin’ (1935).

Steven ends his presentation with Portrait of Wellman Braud from New Orleans Suite.

Go to Ellington Reflections and enjoy this wonderful tribute together with all other music with Wellman Braud that Steven has put into the post.
