By chance I came across a small piece of a reel-to-reel tape the other day. It had a segment of a Date With The Duke broadcast with Ellington playing a piano medley. Nothing rare but I enjoyed it and thought why not share it with Ellington Galaxy friends. So here it is!
The first one to identify which Date With The Duke it is is of course entitled to a small prize.
I digitized the tape with my indispensable Revox B77 mk II combined with M2Tech’s ADC Joplin Mk 2.

It is from August 24, 1946 in Culver City CA, but I don’t know the number of the Date With the Duke release. It was most recently released on Disc 1 in DETS 23. Good stuff!
