John was one of the speakers at Ellington ’91 as he had been at many other Ellington Study Group conferences before. He had discovered many of the printed Cotton Club programs from the late 20’s and early 30’s among Cab Calloway’s scrapbooks at Boston University and they were the basis of his presentation.
