This is from Sunday afternoon May 25th at Ellington ’97. The title in the program is Happy Anatomy? but the subtitle says more – Midriff dissected.

For almost 45 minutes Pete Long guided the audience through Billy Strayhorn’s Midriff with the help of his orchestra Echoes of Ellington and with a full version well rehearsed during the 45 minutes. Bob Hunt played the role of Lawrence Brown.

There is another half an hour of the afternoon session on the tape and I will tell about it in a couple of days.
