The 15th Ellington Study Group Conference took place in Leeds from 22nd to 26th May 1997. It was the first conference in Europe since the one in Stockholm in 1994.
It was organised by Roger Boyes and a team he had put together. According to all reports, the group had done an amaziung job to organise everything and get a good rooster of presenters and muscians.
Thank you to Brian Priestley for providing me with a copy of the printed conference program. I hope that I can make a pdf copy of it and put it on Ellington Galaxy.
Thank you also to Göran Wallén for this copy of the press release sent out for the conference

After having taken over The Eddie Lambert Memorial Gavel from the Toronto team, Roger opened the conference and presented his team.
A video of the opening will shortly be here. It was filmed by Sjef Hoefsmit and have been edited by me to fit into the article.
This is also the case with the videos with presentations and concerts, which will be available on the website in the weeks and months.
The detailed conference program in pdf will hopefully also be availabe rather soon.
