Stockholm Swing All Stars will provide the evening concert at the “DESS’ Ellington 125” miniconference in Stockholm on April 29, 2024
The band was formed in 2002 and the idea was to bring together the top jazz and swing players in Stockholm to provide jazzy swing by leading composers in this category, Duke Ellington among them. With cleverly written arrangements, mostly by Klas Lindquist and Fredrik Lindborg, the band can play softly like a small group and seconds later explode in a big band fortissimo with its front line of four horn players and rhythm section that gives the band a bouncing ground for the solos and ensembles.
Stockholm Swing All Stars plays regularly at the Stockholm Concert Hall and the Gothenburg Concert Hall but tours all over Scandinavia.
It has released seven albums and one DVD. Irs most recent album is “In The Spirit of Duke Ellington”.
