In 1987, Alice Babs accepted to be a speaker at the 5th Ellington Study Group Conference in Toronto. It was the first of many Ellington conferences for her.

It is obvious that she was a little bit nervous and had prepared herself well.

In her longer than an hour presentation, she covered everything from her early days as a singer when she discovered Duke Ellington’s music until the Sacred Concert periods.

Many of her other presentations at Ellington conferences are available on the website. It is just a matter of searching.
