Michael Kilpatrick and his Harmony in Harlem is one of the key orchestras to keep Ellington alive and reach out to new audiences. At he moment, Michael and the band is touring to perform The Queen’s Suite and other Ellington music from its repertoire.

On 9 September they performed at St Andrew’s Street Baptist Church in Cambridge  and the clip above is Sunset And The Mocking Bird from Queen’s Suite.

Michael and Harmony in Harlem also played Primping for the Prom at the concert in Cambridge.

“I could watch the opening of this one over and over, all day long.” says Michael. “My
pianist Art Toper is playing my full transcription of Duke’s extended
introduction to Primping for the Prom taken from the live recording in 1951.”
