The soloists in How High The Moon are Willie Smith, Harold Baker Louie Bellson, Harry Carney and Paul Gonsalves, an impressive group of musicians. Mood Indigo finds Quentin Jackson, Harry Carney and Britt Woodman at the microphone. Love You Madly, sung by Norma Oldham comes next and this is probably her last recorded performance with the band, she left in July. Diminuendo And Crescendo In Blue, which is a composition by Duke, first recorded in 1937, is now given a new appearance with the Wailing Interval linking the two tunes to each other and with Paul Gonsalves, for the first time playing his long solo, which would bring fame to the Ellington orchestra at Newport in 1956. The broadcast is then finished by playing Take The A Train and a few bars of Jumpin’ With Symphony Sid.
