More than five years ago, the website published two articles about Ellington’s and his band’s concerts in in Stockholm on 24th January 1967. They were made available to the members of DESS as Goodies on 17th and 24th August 1967 and Anders Asplund was the main author.
Today, we are in the situation that DESS might disappear. The Board of DESS has proposed that it should be dissolved and the decision will be taken ten days from now.
It is a sad situation so when I found a recording of the second concert on a tape in the Benny Åslund Colletion I said to my myself “What’s the heck, let the members of DESS and other Ellington fans enjoy another Ellington concert before it is all over”.
The recording is certainly low fi but I have tried to improve as much as possible to make it as listenable as possible.
On the tape I found is also Ellington’ concert in Oslo the day after, which I will put on the website as well.
