It is a new month and I will dig a little bit into the Benny Åslund’s Collection.
I start with an interview of Duke Ellington. Nothing sensational and many of the visitors to the website might have it. It is in NDESOR and is from 4th November, 1958. NDESOR gives the location as Tennishallen.
Ellington started his 1958 Scandinavian tour on 4th November in Stockholm, Sweden, and then went to Oslo, Norway, for a concert on 5th November. Next stop on the tour was Göteborg on the Swedish west coast for a concert on 6th November and then he went to Copenhagen for the final Scandinavian concert the next day.
When Ellington arrived in Stockholm, he was interviewed for the daily news program Dagens Eko and an insert in the tape box says that the interviewer is Bo Holmström. He was a fan of Ellington and wrote besides his job on Sveriges Radio articles in Orkesterjournalen.
